Last Thursday, September 6th, the New York Times published an opinion piece titled The Magic of the Granny Flat (a tongue in cheek term for ADUs/mini homes/backyard bungalows). In it, the author extols the virtue of ADUs for family housing, rental income, etc., and they do it with gentile density. The neighborhood is scarrely affected.
